Meet the founders

Meet the husband & wife founders of
The Wedding Shortlist.

Having recently celebrated their silver wedding anniversary and now with two grown-up sons, Tony & Lena Moriarty have filmed and photographed well over 1,500 weddings in a combined career spanning over 30 years!

“During this time we have become well aware of the pressure engaged couples face selecting the perfect team of wedding professionals whilst also staying on budget. We also know the frustration wedding professionals feel with the financial burdens of overpriced marketing platforms and commission hungry directories.

These are two big problems – and in seeking a solution to both it inspired us to create The Wedding Shortlist.”

“We know how overwhelming planning a wedding can feel! ‘Where do we start?’… ‘Which suppliers can we trust?’… ‘How can we book quality professionals AND stay on budget?’… are just some of the questions you may have asked yourselves?

When creating The Wedding Shortlist we particularly wanted to alleviate these concerns and help engaged couples make far more confident, informed choices, save time and reduce stress & uncertainty.

The Wedding Shortlist provides engaged couples with carefully selected, best value-for-money wedding professionals — not just endless, overwhelming lists of unverified suppliers.”

“As wedding photographers and filmmakers, we’ve had our share of disappointments with major wedding directories. With one in particular, over a 12 month period, each booking cost us around £300. When we raised concerns about the poor return, we were met with a blunt, “Well, our contract made no guarantees” – a far cry from the overly enthusiastic assurances from them when we were encouraged to sign up. Wedding directories like this rely on a constant churn of hopeful advertisers, and for many, it can be an expensive lesson. The same company has even offered us incentives for positive reviews!

Elsewhere we’ve also had the frustration of our search engine budget being drained by irrelevant clicks from SEO companies pitching their services.

If you’re a wedding professional and any of this sounds familiar, we think you’ll find The Wedding Shortlist a breath of fresh air. We’d love you to join us, as we build a fairer and more rewarding space that will give you the recognition you deserve without the financial burden of inflated marketing costs!”
